About the Conference
The 2020 edition of the African Economic Conference, jointly organized by African Development Bank (AfDB), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is planned to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 1 to 3 December 2020.
Alternatively, if it is decided that, owing to the status of the coronavirus pandemic, that gathering in Addis Ababa at that time would not be feasible, then the conference will instead take place in an online platform.
Since its inception in 2006, the conference has fostered dialogue and the exchange of knowledge on a variety of issues and challenges that Africa has faced.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Africa beyond COVID-19: accelerating towards inclusive sustainable development”.
The conference will provide a platform for established academics and young researchers to present their solution-oriented research to policymakers and decision-makers.
Interested authors must submit their papers both through this submission form and by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Only full papers addressing the theme of the conference will be considered for presentation. We also encourage the submission of policy- and solution-oriented papers that demonstrate strong empirical analysis. The conference shall give priority to solution-oriented papers.
Participants and experts submitting papers for the conference must adhere to the key deadline dates indicated in the table below:
|Deadline for submission of papers||21 August 2020|
|Notification of final acceptance||15 October 2020|
|Last day for presenters to register||1 November 2020|
|Closing of flight bookings||15 November 2020|
|Conference dates (if held in Addis Ababa)||1–3 December 2020|
Given that one of the objectives of the conference is to provide young African researchers with opportunities to share their work with a broader audience and expand their networks, young African female and male researchers are especially encouraged to submit papers.
